Clock Overhaul

Clock overhaul requires a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills including mechanical, metallurgical, woodworking, painting and finishing.

These examples show a small sampling of some of the breadth of experience necessary to restore a clock which has suffered serious damage or neglect over time or from an accident.

Case and Movement Rebuild

Charles Stratton Wooden Works Clock

As Found

The top chimneys and splat and several sections of veneer were missing. The movement required several gear teeth replacements and fabrication of a missing verge.

After Full Restoration

This clock has been restored to full operational state.

Movement Rebuild

Gilbert Curfew Clock

Movement Unassembled

The clock was purchased with the escape wheel out of place.

After Rebuild

Proper repair required complete disassembly, cleaning, installing several bushings in worn pivot holes in the plates and reassembly.

The completed clock has a unique arch and bell designed to figuratively sound the start of curfew and hence the name.
