Rocking Ship Clock - the Waves

As mentioned, the waves were mounted on threads so there would be essentially to friction to resist their movement. Since the arc of the swing was small, the small amount of upward motion towards the end of the swing is unnoticeable.

The waves were hung from the top aluminum bar using threads. The threads were threaded through holes and secured using toothpicks.

Here is a closeup of the threads tied to the waves.

In order to prevent the steel from cutting into the aluminum pins, these bearing surface clips were 3-D printed by Steve Llewelyn.

Here is a photo showing how the waves engage with the pins of the crutch extension.
